Our Stories - Kelvin School

It was a "huge adventure" when 28 pupils of Kelvin School in Glasgow set out for the Euro Disney theme park in Paris.
All the children suffer visual impairment, with some totally blind and others suffering from a wide range of additional disabilities.

Yet here they were, getting up close and personal with Minnie, Mickey, Pluto and all the gang. A donation from the Teddy Bear Foundation topped off a major fund-raising effort by the school.
Kelvin was celebrating its 70th birthday and the decision to move to a purpose-built complex on the city's south side in 2007.
"To the children, it was a huge adventure" said head teacher, Sister Pat Gribbin.
"We were so grateful to Barry and Jenny for their contribution.
"It gave the children a whole new bonding experience with the staff, who cared for them overnight."
